Online Career Therapy

The workplace can offer a potentially rewarding experience of learning, growth and professional fulfilment. It can also be experienced as a place of dread and tremendous pressure and stress.

I believe that just as you are attracted to your romantic partners through conscious and unconscious means, the same applies to your career choice and organisation. It means that there is the potential for deep learning and increased self-awareness to examine more closely and understand what dynamics are at play and how they are impacting you and your life.

Clients working with me from C-suite executives to graduate employees to try and make sense of their experience, seek relief, rediscover meaning and purpose at work, navigate a transition like a settlement agreement ending or redundancy or return to work from maternity leave. Sometimes there may be issues with a working relationship causing distress or conflict.

What Is Career Therapy?

Career therapy is a way of working together where the locus of our work together is on the workplace, issues in your job or difficulties navigating challenging situations driven by your employing organisation.

It offers a neutral and confidential space, unconnected to your employer to unpack and freely explore what’s coming up in your working life and to discover what support you need and realistic goals to work towards.

My approach is to offer clients the benefit of a combination of solutions focus coaching and therapeutic approach depending on the issues you bring and the goal in mind.

Our sessions would then be weekly and where appropriate we can integrate psychometric testing to support the focus of our work together - this approach tends to be most valuable when the issues relate to relational or performance issues in the workplace.

How Does It Work?

Our sessions provide and open non-judgemental space for you to name and share your professional experiences and how they may be impacting you in all areas of your life.

We can work with a goal in mind while leaving enough space and time for exploring the issues at hand at your pace.

I can introduce practical tools to help you to make sense of your experiences and support practical strategies more akin to solutions focus and a coaching stance as and when appropriate and this is discussed when we contract to work together.

I am also training in Hogan Lead psychometric testing and if we think it would be useful to integrate into our work together, I am weave in insights from this report into our work together. Psychometric testing is an additional cost which we can discuss.

“Before entering the sea, a river trembles with fear. She looks back at the path she has travelled, And in front of her, she sees an ocean so vast, that to enter, there seems nothing more than to disappear forever. But there is no other way. The river can not go back, nobody can go back. The river needs to take the risk of entering the ocean because only then will fear disappear, because that’s where the river will know, it’s not about disappearing into the ocean, but of becoming the ocean.”
